India is rather in its growing stage when it comes to the auto industry as most of the vehicles that run are either entry-level hatchbacks or sedans. Here more luxurious offerings are a dream for some and customizing their current cars seems like a highly unlikely option. In India the frugality of things plays a big role, hence there is a small market for modifying cars and vehicles.
Yet, there are designers and people who want to customize their cars and make it look bespoke. Among the designers, one designer’s name stands out quite brilliantly, and that is the DilipChhabria designs or DC design cars as they are popularly called. The mastermind behind this, the enigmatic DilipChhabria, initially started by making body kits for stock cars and sprucing up car interiors. Since then they have become a popular brand and also make the only Indian sports car in the world, the Avanti. While the ever-popular brand has worked on various designs, you might not have seen one in the wild.
Here are some of the cars seen on roads:
- Renault Duster: this popular budget SUV is rarely given an aftermarket treatment, but here DC designs have outdone themselves, with 10 spoke alloy wheels, projector lamps, and a highly modified front grille. The car’s interiors also have been turned into a lounge, and can only house 4 people as compared to the original 5.
- Toyota Fortuner: A very popular SUV in India, this car received the DC touch rather quickly. The design department saw fit to make it into a lounge concept. The car looks much edgier and bolder as compared to the previous design. It also includes custom headlamps and seats.
- Mahindra XUV500: This is the best car to turn into a lounge if, you do not like the original Toyota Innova template. The car features two 24 inch captain seats, which recline all the way up to 150 degrees. There are also ambient lighting, LCD screens for the people in the back, and reading lights for each seat. You could also fit in a table set if you fancy eating or work on the go.
- Volkswagen Polo: This car is by far the most customized in India, as the parts are easily available, but DC designs take it a step further. This version looks a lot muscular, comes with wider fenders and new headlamp units. There are also now three doors, instead of the original five. These DC modified cars look absolutely stellar and you can bet it goes down the roads pretty fast as well.
These are some of the cars which are modified by DC cars. Be it any model or make, you can be sure DC designs have made modifications to that car. The demand for aftermarket treatment to stock vehicles seems to be gaining some interest and the one company which looks to capitalize this market is DC designs. With their avant-garde philosophy in design and fabrication, the company is set to go a long way.
