It is with the utmost emphasis that this message is given: Smoking is bad for health. This has been stressed enough number of times through various media but doesn’t seem to matter to smokers. If you are one, the first thing you need to do is introspect and find incidents in your life when smoking has affected you. Only then can you go further and look at this post. If you have introspected and now realize why smoking might seem bad, here are a few solid reasons why smoking can possibly kill you or make you extremely sick and all the more reason for you to stop.
Enough amounts of research and analysis have shown that smokers tend to live shorter lives, suffer from various ailments and pass on these symptoms to others. Thus it is your prerogative to control your smoking not only for yourself but for the benefit of your near and dear ones.
1. You go Yellow all over
A very common symptom is that smokers’ fingers turn yellow. Although no one is able to understand exactly why this happens, the symptoms start to appear very early on. The fingers are usually very thin and pale and seem lifeless. And this is not just the fingers, even your face starts to turn pale and your teeth and gums turn dark. These symptoms are enough for people to understand that you are a smoker.
2. You tend to stink a lot
This is yet another factor of smoking. No matter how hard you try you can never get the stink of smoking on your clothes or your body. The acrid smell tends to linger long after you have smoked. It is this smell which could also result in passive smoking. Not only is everyone now completely aware of what you do, but you yourself seem to find that you have a very bad odor.
3. You lose your appetite
Very soon you will start eating lesser and lesser and completely lose your appetite. This is essentially because your taste buds go numb after smoking and can only feel that taste lingering. Thus when the taste of food clashes with it, you start to find that your food tastes very bad. Smoking can thus ruin your entire digestive system as well.
4. Your breathing takes a toll
Just like how you lose your appetite, your breathing starts to get very forceful and you start feeling hazy due to lack of air. This is the most crucial problem of smoking where your lungs can no longer suck in air like before. They are filled with the toxic effluents of cigars and cigarettes and can potentially cause lung cancer.
It is thus quite evident that smoking can cause serious injury to life, if not death. It is however left to the person himself to choose whether he wishes to continue to smoke for the thrill he/she gets or let it go and live another day.
