For many, the fall season is the chance for long weekends being cuddly and cozy inside before winter hits. But why not try and have some fun outside while you still can? Why not enjoy the last few weeks of weather that allow you to go outside in a simple jacket and tennis shoes instead of a heavy fleece coat and boats? Enjoy the nice weather with your family then you can cuddle on the couch with a good book once the snow sticks to the ground.
Here are some outdoor activities you can enjoy with your family:
- Make a Movie
- Take a Hike
- Camping
- Kite Flying
- Picnic
- BBQ
- Water Games
- Travel through the Woods
- Go to the Zoo
- Bring Games to the Park
Instead of simply watching or going to see a movie, have some real fun with your family by writing, casting, and creating your own movie. Make it a group effort and give everyone in the family a job. Someone can direct, someone can be in charge of costumes, and someone can be in charge of the plot, etc. This is sure to be an activity with many laughs and adventures.
Gear up and go on a hike with the whole family. You can do things along the way like collect flowers and leaves to press or bring a nature book, point out the plants that are poisonous or edible, or even play some hinking games.
You don’t have to go far to go camping, simply set up the tent in the backyard, build a fire, roast some marshmallows and have some fun.
The fall means that Summer time is at an end, so why not take some popsicles to a local park, make your own kites and fly them around for a while.
Pack a picnic lunch, bring some games and have fun at the park or even in your own backyard. Invite family friends and bring some outdoor games like bocce ball, volleyball, and tennis, etc.
Throw a backyard BBQ with friends and family. If you are worried about preparing and providing enough food, simply provide the meat and give your guests different food assignments like side dishes, condiments, drinks, and desserts.
Fill up water balloons, make your own slip-n-slide, swim in a pool, or go to a water park. You could even use a sprinkler or a hose to have some water fun in your backyard.
Whether or not you live near the woods you can probably find some trees nearby that will give off a similar affect, climb some trees, get dirty, be young again and have fun with your family.
The Zoo’s are still open for a little while so hurry and check out some of the neat and exotic animals before it is too cold for everyone.
Bring your favorite family games to the park and play them on a picnic blanket outside.
You can visit museums, see movies, look at museum pedestals, and attend other indoor attractions when the weather becomes cooler; have fun outside while you still can.
