Will it be a boy or a girl? So your belly grows and so does your curiosity. It is perfectly natural – there is not one single couple that has not questioned whether they will have a baby boy or baby girl. Moreover, even when you do try to stop thinking about it, family and friend never fail to remind you: “Oh do you know if it will be a boy or a girl?” “Can I ask whether you have chosen any names?” and so forth. But if your curiosity and desires actually beat you then why not just do an at home baby gender test any find out? Or is it just old wives’ tales? Here are two main tests which can do yourself at home, using basic things you would have around the house.
How to do the Baby Gender Cabbage test
The cabbage test is probably the most common test. It is indeed really popular and hundreds of moms vouch by the accuracy of this test. A quick browse online will show you countless forums where moms discuss the results of the cabbage test and exchange ideas and information.
The ingredient for the cabbage test:
- 1 small red cabbage (not green as the test will only work with red cabbage)
- A small pot of boiling water containing around 2 cups
Procedure:
Ideally you carry out this test nice and early after your wake up.
Chop up the cabbage into small pieces. You will only need about half of it. Place the pot containing the 2 cups on the fire and wait for it to boil. Then add the cabbage. Using a strainer spate the cabbage from the water making sure to keep the water as this is actually what you need for the test. Now measure out a volume of cabbage water in a jug and collect a urine sample of equal volume (the reason why morning urine is recommended is because this is more concentrated and thus, will produce the best effects). Mix the two together and wait for the color change.
What can I expect to see?
The results of the cabbage test supposedly tell you if your baby is a boy or girl.
- a pink/red color indicates a boy
- purple color indicates a girl
The problem with the cabbage test is that sometimes the colors are not as distinct as we would need them to be for an accurate reading. Some people might interpret pink as being purple or a purple as tilting more towards the pink.
What other options do I have?
Well a scientific gender test is just a click away. Many different companies offer at DNA gender tests. There are tests you can do with blood and other tests you can do with urine.
