Today there is hardly anyone who needs to be introduced to the world of Instagram. This utility app has been around for quite some time now and has seen the ranks of its users swell in number, exponentially in very little time.
Instagram 5.0 for Blackberry
Very recently Instagram unveiled its latest version i.e. Instagram 5.0. The latest addition which has been introduced along with this new revamping is that, it offers a feature called Instagram direct. This new version of the app operates absolutely without any glitch on Blackberry 10 and Z30. However, any user who wishes to use 5.0 for Blackberry, will require the installation of the latest 10.2.1 leak, for hassle free download and installing of the APK. In the absence of the leak, side-loading from Mac and Window’s PC is also possible.
What is Instagram Direct?
This latest addition allows users to choose between two sets of audiences for their pictures or videos. Via 5.0 users of Instagram will be able to send images and/or videos privately to a select group of viewers as per their wish, rather than having to post every item on their stream, open to anyone and everyone for viewing.
The Process of Sharing and Viewing
- Sharing
The entire operation is rather simplistic. Once the user has successfully installed and opened Instagram on her Blackberry, an icon will appear on the top right corner of her home feed. Tapping on this icon will lead to the opening of the inbox containing all those images and videos that our user has received from others. Next the user will need to tap on the camera button to enter the item selected for sharing. The top of the share screen will contain two options for sharing i.e., share with all followers or share with specific people. Direct will allow our user to tap in the name of those specific people she wishes to send her material to, all she will have to do after this is to write the caption and then send. The total number of individuals who can be put in the ‘specific’ audience category at a time has been limited to 15.
- Once the item has been shared or sent, the user will also be able to keep a tab on who has viewed it, who has liked it, as well as observe and check on the comments made on that particular shared item by viewers in real time.
- Viewing
All the photos and videos shared by those our user follows, will appear immediately to the user upon sharing. However, in case items are shared with the user by someone other than those she follows, such items will be kept pending for her approval and go to her requests. Thus, there is plenty of room for viewer discretion as well.
At a glance, the new feature seems like an Instagram version of our old and well known MMS. However, that doesn’t necessarily affect the app negatively; time will tell what more 5.0 has to offer, nonetheless till then it does increase the number of options we have for file sharing.
